Animated transparency

A rotating product and a looping gift sticker

Remove the selected background color and export every animation frame. These independent inputs compare photographic product motion with a crisp graphic animation. GIF pixels are either transparent or opaque; soft video alpha edges cannot carry over.

01Product motion

GIF color key · green background

Turn a rotating sneaker into a transparent GIF

A three-second excerpt of the AI product video was converted to a 448 × 256 GIF, then processed by this page. Use a short loop as a product accent; video-to-GIF conversion was a sample preparation step. Sample #3b9f31 with 10% strength and 6% softness.

Look closely:

Check the laces, sole and moving outline. Palette colors and binary transparency make GIF edges harder than WebM, especially at small sizes.

02Campaign stickers

GIF color key · blue background

Keep the bouncing gift. Drop the blue.

This original graphic animation uses a blue backdrop and contrasting ribbon and box colors. Select blue, then export to inspect the bow openings and small surrounding sparkles. Sample #2455bb with 10% strength and 6% softness.

Look closely:

Check transparency inside the bow and the sparkles across frames. Flat shapes suit GIF; soft semi-transparent shadows do not.

How to use the GIF background remover

  1. 01

    Select the animation

Choose an actual GIF with a consistent background color. The tool reads the animation frames, their timing and loop information. Start with a small sample if the source has many frames.

  2. 02

    Choose the color to remove

Pick directly from the frame, adjust removal strength, and check the live preview. Open advanced settings if the edges need more work.

  3. 03

Check every part of the loop

Process locally, watch the resulting animation over the checkerboard, and download the GIF. Inspect movement as well as the first frame; a later frame may contain a different background shade.

Animated stickers with a cleaner backdrop

This GIF background remover works by color, frame by frame. It suits simple artwork, a moving object on a plain backdrop or a sticker animation. It preserves animation rather than extracting one still frame, but it cannot separate an arbitrary subject from a detailed scene.

Simple graphics and stickers

A flat background that contrasts with the artwork is the easiest source. Check small lettering and thin lines: colors close to the selected backdrop can be removed too.

Reuse an animation over another surface

A transparent GIF can sit over a page or slide background. Test the exported loop on its final surface because hard alpha edges may look different over white, dark or saturated colors.

Animated GIF background remover limits

Input
Animated GIF with 2–200 frames, up to 20 MiB and 10 seconds for one cycle. Canvas pixel count up to 1024 × 1024. Still GIF images are not supported. Complex animations may exceed the additional memory safety bound.
Output
Real animated GIF, up to 512 pixels on the long edge and 20 MiB. Aspect ratio, frame count, source frame delays and loop setting are retained.
Transparency
Pixels are either transparent or opaque. GIF cannot preserve smooth partial alpha; colors are quantized to a GIF palette.
Processing
Color key only in this version. No audio, account, watermark or media upload. Desktop browser first; physical phones remain unverified.

Keep realistic expectations for GIF edges

Use a solid, consistent backdrop with a color absent from the foreground. Reduce tolerance when small details disappear. GIF has a limited palette and no smooth alpha channel, so semi-transparent hair, shadows and motion blur cannot be represented like transparent video. For a portrait MP4 or WebM needing softer edges, use the video tool instead.

Animated GIF background removal questions

Will the output still move?

Yes. The tool processes and encodes the complete GIF animation. It does not turn the source into a PNG or export only its first frame. The export is checked for frame count, delays and loop information.

Can I remove GIF background colors from a busy scene?

This version is a color-key remover. It removes pixels similar to the chosen background color; it does not identify people or objects against a complex animated scene.

Why are the edges jagged or some colors different?

GIF stores a limited palette and transparent or opaque pixels, rather than smooth partial transparency. Palette conversion can shift colors, and thin or semi-transparent edges may look harder after export.

Does it keep the loop and playback speed?

The source frame delays and loop extension are retained. GIF viewers can interpret very short delays differently, so the apparent speed should also be checked in the application where you will use it.

Is the GIF uploaded or stored?

No. The selected file and animation frames stay in this browser. The website makes ordinary page and asset requests. Refreshing or closing the page clears this task and its result.
