About this portrait video background remover
What the browser-local video background remover does, how it handles your media and the free browser workflow and its current limits.

One clear task
This video background remover turns a short video with a clearly visible person into a transparent foreground layer. The result is a VP9 WebM, with supported original audio retained as Opus.
It is intended for trying portrait cutouts in a creative workflow. It does not claim to be professional video matting or a general background remover for every subject.
Local processing
The chosen media stays on your device in the browser. The model and runtime load from this site, then segmentation, encoding and output verification run locally. Guests can process three tasks per day without signing in; signed-in accounts receive six total tasks per day across the tools. Downloads have no added watermark. See pricing for the current access options.
Refreshing or closing clears the task and result. You are responsible for saving a download you want to keep. Website hosting still receives normal requests for pages and assets, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
Evidence before claims
The examples show actual outputs, including visible imperfections. Browser support records successful desktop Chrome, Firefox and Safari exports on a tested Mac, alongside the limits of those samples. Physical phones remain unverified; the tested CapCut and iMovie workflows required a separate local MOV conversion. Processing speed, perfect hair edges and universal compatibility are not promised.
Current scope
The portrait tool accepts one MP4 or WebM at a time, currently up to 2 GB and 120 seconds, subject to additional frame and processing budgets described in the limits. Three additional tools have their own workflows and limits:
- Green screen remover: color keying for a solid backdrop around people or objects, with transparent WebM output. It does not perform general object AI segmentation.
- Change video background: portrait cutouts over a solid color or local image, downloaded as an actual opaque MP4 when supported or WebM fallback.
- Remove GIF background: solid-color keying for animated GIFs, retaining frame delays and loop settings; up to 20 MiB, 10 seconds and 200 frames, with output long edge up to 512 pixels.
General product or pet AI cutouts, batch processing, public API, transparent MP4 and ProRes export are not provided. The original multi-browser observations above apply to the portrait workflow; each added tool still checks its required capabilities on your device. GIF library notices are available with the other third-party notices.
