These steps take you from a short source clip to a transparent layer you can check in your editor. 1. **Choose a useful excerpt** — Trim the moment you need to 120 seconds or less, then select the MP4, MOV or WebM. Keep the person fully in frame and clearly lit. Removing a background cannot recover hands or clothing cut off in the original shot. 2. **Compare the edge detail** — Start with Fast to try the clip. Choose Detailed edges when hair or clothing needs a closer look; it takes more resources and can still leave halos or gaps. Use the same excerpt when comparing the two modes. 3. **Check the downloaded layer** — Play the exported WebM through head turns and hand movements, and listen to the audio. In a compatible editor, place it above your screen recording or another colored layer to check the transparency before building the rest of your edit. ## Video background removal for people and products See how a video background remover fits a tutorial, product edit or fitness introduction. Each case pairs a different source with its actual export and explains what to check before using it. The source clips are AI-generated; the cutout masks have not been hand-retouched. [Portrait videos](https://cutoutup.com#video-workbench): Use portrait AI without a solid backdrop. Check hair, hands and moving edges. [Products and props](https://cutoutup.com/green-screen-remover): Use color keying with a solid backdrop distinct from the subject. General object removal in complex scenes is not supported. ### Keep your presenter and voice in a new scene Portrait AI · No green screen See a presenter speak, keep the voice through background removal, and move into a new scene. The finished video pairs the actual transparent export with a website capture and titles. Open the comparison to inspect the same presenter, or download the transparent WebM for your own edit. The presenter and supported speech are retained. Inspect the fine hair and shoulder outline over light and dark backgrounds; the preview and downloaded WebM use the actual Detailed edges output. The opening briefly reveals the green-screen source before the product moves into two graphic campaign settings. Music, short ad lines and the moving cutout make the product the focus. Compare the same source with its actual color-key export, or download the transparent WebM to build your own campaign. The actual export retains the cap, body and base through the turn. Fine colored edges remain in places; inspect the moving outline over your intended background. The finished ad adds motion, graphics and sound in an editor. AI-generated source · Color key · 15.1 s · 1260 × 720 · 24 fps · music retained [Get the WebM](https://cutoutup.com/promos/product-motion/assets/product-motion-cutout.webm) · [Source & processing record](https://cutoutup.com/promos/product-motion/assets/product-motion.manifest.json) [Key a solid backdrop around a product](https://cutoutup.com/green-screen-remover) ### Keep the laces and light sole as a sneaker turns Color key · Solid backdrop required A rotating shoe clip can show the upper, sole and laces in a short product introduction. This source has an unevenly lit green backdrop, a dark red upper and cream details, so a broad color selection can remove more than intended. Sample the actual green and start with a lower tolerance. Play the full turn over the background you plan to use, checking that the laces and sole remain visible as their lighting changes. The turning shoe, laces and sole remain visible, with fine colored edges along the sole. This green-backdrop example does not demonstrate automatic object removal from an ordinary desk scene. AI-generated source · Color key · 5.2 s · 1260 × 720 · 24 fps · audio retained [Get the WebM](https://cutoutup.com/examples/product-sneaker-cutout.webm) · [Source & processing record](https://cutoutup.com/examples/product-sneaker.manifest.json) [Follow the product green-screen workflow](https://cutoutup.com/green-screen-remover) ### Place full-body movement over a fitness title Portrait AI · No green screen Use a short exercise cutout beside a session title or above a new scene in your editor. Keep the full body inside the source frame and use portrait AI to separate it from the room. This vertical sample shows moving arms and knees, making it useful for checking the spaces between limbs as well as the outer outline. Leave room around the hands and shoes when arranging the downloaded layer, then watch the entire movement at the size your audience will see. Arms, knees and shoes remain visible through the movement. Light outlines and thin-edge gaps remain; inspect the whole clip, especially crossing limbs. Yes. You can process 3 tasks per day for free without signing in, or 6 total per day with a free account. No watermark is added. Process one supported clip at a time: up to 2 GB and 120 seconds, with exports up to 720p / 30 fps. ### Can I remove background from video without a green screen? Yes. The portrait model detects the person, so you do not need to film against a green screen or select a background color. Start with a well-lit clip and a clearly visible person. Fast motion and fine hair can still leave imperfect edges. ### Can I remove the background from product videos? Use the green screen remover for objects filmed against a suitable solid-color backdrop. Select the background color, then adjust tolerance and edges. Similar colors on the object may also be removed. Products against a room, desk or other complex background are not supported by general object segmentation; portrait AI is for people. ### Can I remove a video background and keep the audio? Supported source audio is retained or converted to Opus in the transparent WebM. If this browser cannot preserve it, processing stops without creating a silent replacement. Clips with no source audio stay silent. ### Do I need an account, or upload my video? No account or media upload is required. Video, audio and frames stay in this browser; the website still serves pages and model files. Download your result before closing or refreshing the tab. ### Which files can I process? MP4, MOV or WebM with one video track and at most one audio track, up to 2 GB, 120 seconds and 4K pixel count. SDR H.264 and HEVC require native video decoding support; HDR / Dolby Vision is not supported. Local AAC audio compatibility does not add missing video APIs on older iOS. Current physical iPhone and Android coverage remains unverified. ### Why does the download use WebM? This tool exports transparent WebM with VP9 alpha and supported audio. Check that your editor reads this format. Transparent MP4 and ProRes exports are not currently available in the public tools. ### What if my editor shows a black background? A player can ignore the alpha channel. Place the clip over a colored layer in your target editor and inspect it. Our canvas preview decodes the actual exported file; editor compatibility is still being verified. ### Will hair and fast motion be perfect? No. Detailed edges can recover more hair and clothing detail, but both modes can leave gaps or halos around fine hair, motion, occlusion and difficult lighting. Preview several points in your own clip. ## Related tools - [Green screen remover](https://cutoutup.com/green-screen-remover) - [Change video background](https://cutoutup.com/change-video-background) - [Remove GIF background](https://cutoutup.com/remove-gif-background) # Green screen remover Choose a green or blue screen video, preview the removal, then export transparent WebM or replace the screen with a color or local image. Start with a few seconds so you can judge the key before processing a longer take. Your source stays on this device. 2. **Sample and refine** — Pick directly from the frame, adjust removal strength, and check the live preview. Open advanced settings if the edges need more work. 3. **Check the exported result** — Choose transparent output for an alpha layer, or a solid color or local image to burn in a background. After export, check the full video, edges and audio. After changing a setting, you can still download the previous export or restore its settings. Export again to apply the new settings. ## Color keying for people and objects A green screen remover separates pixels by color. It can work on a presenter, a product turntable or a prop because it does not depend on a person detector. The scene still needs a backdrop whose color differs from the foreground. ### Presenter overlays Create an overlay for a tutorial or stream. Keep the screen evenly lit and place the presenter away from it to reduce colored reflections on skin and clothing. ### Product and prop footage Key a moving object filmed on a solid backdrop. A green object against a green screen is a poor match; choose a contrasting screen and sample that color instead. ## Green screen remover input and export limits - **Video input:** MP4, MOV or WebM; up to 2 GB, 120 seconds and the pixel count of 3840 × 2160. One video track and at most one audio track. - **Export:** Transparent VP9 WebM, or an opaque MP4 when this browser can encode it and opaque WebM otherwise; aspect ratio preserved, up to a 1280 × 720 landscape or 720 × 1280 portrait bounding box and 30 fps; at most 2 GB. - **Audio:** Supported source audio is retained or converted to Opus. The tool stops if it cannot verify audio preservation. - **Processing:** Local browser processing. No sign-up or watermark added. Try current desktop Chrome; codec support is checked on your device. Physical phones remain unverified. ### Getting a cleaner green-screen key Sample a middle shade of the screen, then increase tolerance in small steps. Too much tolerance can remove green clothing and low-contrast edges. Softness smooths the transition; spill cleanup changes edge colors and is best used cautiously. The export preview is a useful check, but a separate editor test over your final background remains necessary. ## Green screen remover questions ### Can I remove a blue screen or another solid color? Yes. Choose the color field or sample your backdrop from a source frame. The default is green, but color keying is not limited to green screens. ### Can this remove the background around a product? It can key a product against a suitable solid backdrop. It does not recognize a product against a room, street or other complex scene. For a person without a green screen, use the portrait tool on the homepage. ### Why did part of my subject disappear? The missing region probably resembles the selected key color. Lower tolerance or pick a more representative backdrop shade. If subject and screen have the same color, reshoot against a contrasting backdrop. ### Does the download have a transparent background? Transparent output is VP9 WebM. You can instead choose a solid color or a local image; that produces an opaque composite, using MP4 when this browser can encode it and WebM otherwise. Your target editor must support WebM alpha for a transparent layer. ### Is the footage uploaded? No. Selected video, audio and frames remain in browser memory. The website still makes ordinary page and asset requests. Refreshing or closing the page clears this task. ## Current shared service facts - Free video input is MP4 / WebM, up to 2 GB and 120 seconds, within a 3840 × 2160 input pixel count. - Video output is limited to a 720p bounding box and 30 fps; aspect ratio is preserved and output is not upscaled. - Guests get 3 free tasks daily; signed-in accounts get 6 total. A plain backdrop works for short lesson intros, explainer inserts or a series with a consistent color. Inspect the hand gesture, ears and shirt outline. Dark backgrounds reveal pale edge halos; a color change does not relight the presenter. Fictional MiniMax AI presenter · 1260 × 720 · 6.6 seconds · actual MP4 export with its audio track. The product framing and movement come from the source; the image is center-cropped to fill the video. Inspect the cap and base edges. The backdrop is included in the file, but the tool does not add a contact shadow or change the product lighting. Use the source preview to check framing and movement. The tool checks input and export support before it starts. 2. **Choose a color or image** — Set a solid background color or select a PNG, JPEG or WebP from your device. Images fill the video frame with a centered crop. Choose Detailed edges when fine hair needs closer inspection. 3. **Download the actual composite** — After export, check the full video, edges and audio. After changing a setting, you can still download the previous export or restore its settings. Export again to apply the new settings. ## A new setting for people and products Portrait AI separates a person; color keying handles products against a suitable solid backdrop. Both can combine the cutout and a replacement background in one local export. ### Consistent colors for a short tutorial Use a plain color to keep a talking-head clip visually consistent. A color that contrasts with hair and clothing also makes edge problems easier to see before sharing. ### Your own still-image backdrop Use an image you have permission to use. Match its perspective and lighting to the subject; an attractive background alone will not correct mismatched lighting or missing foreground detail. ## Video background changer formats and limits - **Video input:** MP4, MOV or WebM; up to 2 GB and 120 seconds, one video track and at most one audio track; input up to a 4K pixel count. - **Background image:** PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 10 MiB and 16 million pixels. The image is cropped from the center to fill the video; animated backgrounds are not supported. - **Video export:** Transparent output is VP9 WebM with Opus audio when present. A color or image uses opaque H.264/AAC MP4 when supported, otherwise opaque VP9/Opus WebM. Format is shown after inspection. Up to 720p bounding box, 30 fps and 2 GB. - **Privacy and access:** Selected video, audio and background image stay on this device. No account or watermark added. Current desktop Chrome is the first browser to try; phones remain unverified. ### Make the replacement believable Start with a clearly visible person, good light and limited motion blur. Fast mode is useful for a quick trial; Detailed edges may keep finer hair but takes longer and does not reconstruct missing details. Inspect the downloaded composite against your chosen background. A light halo can be more visible over a dark backdrop, while a busy image can hide a weak edge in the preview. ## Video background changer questions ### Is the replacement background included in the download? Yes when you choose a color or image. The tool encodes the person and the chosen background into one completed opaque video. Choose Transparent instead when you need an alpha layer. ### Can I use my own photo? Yes. Choose Local image and select a supported PNG, JPEG or WebP. It stays in this browser and fills the video with a centered crop. Use an image you own or have permission to use. ### Why do I get WebM instead of MP4? The browser must support the video encoder and, when your source has audio, the audio encoder needed for MP4. If that path is unavailable, the tool uses WebM and shows that choice before processing. The filename always matches the actual container. ### Can I replace the background of product or pet footage? Choose Color key when the product or pet is filmed against a distinct solid screen. Portrait AI remains for people; general object removal against a complex scene is not supported. ### Can I download a transparent MP4? Transparent MP4 is not available here. Choose Transparent for a VP9 WebM alpha layer, or choose a color or image for an opaque MP4 when supported and WebM otherwise. Test WebM transparency in the receiving editor. Keep animation, timing and loop settings, with no upload. Source page: https://cutoutup.com/remove-gif-background ## A rotating product and a looping gift sticker Remove the selected background color and export every animation frame. These independent inputs compare photographic product motion with a crisp graphic animation. GIF pixels are either transparent or opaque; soft video alpha edges cannot carry over. ### Turn a rotating sneaker into a transparent GIF GIF color key · green background A three-second excerpt of the AI product video was converted to a 448 × 256 GIF, then processed by this page. Use a short loop as a product accent; video-to-GIF conversion was a sample preparation step. Sample #3b9f31 with 10% strength and 6% softness. Check the laces, sole and moving outline. The tool reads the animation frames, their timing and loop information. Start with a small sample if the source has many frames. 2. **Choose the color to remove** — Pick directly from the frame, adjust removal strength, and check the live preview. Open advanced settings if the edges need more work. 3. **Check every part of the loop** — Process locally, watch the resulting animation over the checkerboard, and download the GIF. Inspect movement as well as the first frame; a later frame may contain a different background shade. ## Animated stickers with a cleaner backdrop This GIF background remover works by color, frame by frame. It suits simple artwork, a moving object on a plain backdrop or a sticker animation. It preserves animation rather than extracting one still frame, but it cannot separate an arbitrary subject from a detailed scene. ### Simple graphics and stickers A flat background that contrasts with the artwork is the easiest source. Check small lettering and thin lines: colors close to the selected backdrop can be removed too. ### Reuse an animation over another surface A transparent GIF can sit over a page or slide background. Test the exported loop on its final surface because hard alpha edges may look different over white, dark or saturated colors. ## Animated GIF background remover limits - **Input:** Animated GIF with 2–200 frames, up to 20 MiB and 10 seconds for one cycle. Canvas pixel count up to 1024 × 1024. Still GIF images are not supported. Complex animations may exceed the additional memory safety bound. - **Output:** Real animated GIF, up to 512 pixels on the long edge and 20 MiB. Aspect ratio, frame count, source frame delays and loop setting are retained. - **Transparency:** Pixels are either transparent or opaque. GIF cannot preserve smooth partial alpha; colors are quantized to a GIF palette. - **Processing:** Color key only in this version. No audio, account, watermark or media upload. Desktop browser first; physical phones remain unverified. ### Keep realistic expectations for GIF edges Use a solid, consistent backdrop with a color absent from the foreground. Reduce tolerance when small details disappear. GIF has a limited palette and no smooth alpha channel, so semi-transparent hair, shadows and motion blur cannot be represented like transparent video. For a portrait MP4 or WebM needing softer edges, use the video tool instead. ## Animated GIF background removal questions ### Will the output still move? Yes. The tool processes and encodes the complete GIF animation. It does not turn the source into a PNG or export only its first frame. The export is checked for frame count, delays and loop information. ### Can I remove GIF background colors from a busy scene? This version is a color-key remover. It removes pixels similar to the chosen background color; it does not identify people or objects against a complex animated scene. ### Why are the edges jagged or some colors different? GIF stores a limited palette and transparent or opaque pixels, rather than smooth partial transparency. Palette conversion can shift colors, and thin or semi-transparent edges may look harder after export. ### Does it keep the loop and playback speed? The source frame delays and loop extension are retained. GIF viewers can interpret very short delays differently, so the apparent speed should also be checked in the application where you will use it. ### Is the GIF uploaded or stored? No. The selected file and animation frames stay in this browser. The website makes ordinary page and asset requests. Refreshing or closing the page clears this task and its result. Source page: https://cutoutup.com/help Last updated: 2026-10-17 [Choose a tool](#choose-tool) · [Quick start](#quick-start) · [Before you start](#limits) · [Common questions](#troubleshooting) · [Contact support](#contact) ## What would you like to do? - **Remove the background behind a person** → [Video background remover](https://cutoutup.com/#video-workbench), for clips with a clearly visible person. - **Remove a green or other solid background** → [Green screen remover](https://cutoutup.com/green-screen-remover), also suitable for products or pets against a distinct solid backdrop. - **Use a photo or solid color as the background** → [Change video background](https://cutoutup.com/change-video-background). The downloaded video includes your new background. - **Remove a solid background from an animation** → [GIF background remover](https://cutoutup.com/remove-gif-background), for animated GIFs with a fairly even background color. ## Start in three steps 1. **Choose your file.** Open the right tool, select a file from your device and wait for the file check. 2. **Start processing.** For people, start with Fast mode. For solid backgrounds, select the background color in the preview. To replace a background, also choose a color or your own image. 3. **Preview and download.** Check the edges, movement and sound. Save your result when the download button appears. To compare details such as hair, try Detailed edges on a short portrait clip. It takes longer, and results depend on the footage. Keep the page open while processing and download before leaving; refreshing or closing clears the task and result. ## Before you start - **Free allowance:** 3 tasks a day as a guest, or 6 in total when signed in, including linked guest use that day. All tools share the allowance, which resets at 00:00 UTC. Downloads have no watermark. - **Video requirements:** MP4 or WebM, up to 2 GB and 2 minutes, with a total pixel count up to 3840 × 2160. Video output is up to 720p and 30 frames per second, keeping the original proportions. - **Download formats:** Transparent video downloads as WebM. With a photo or solid background, output is MP4 when supported, otherwise WebM. Before editing, see the [import and transparency guide](https://cutoutup.com/transparent-webm-guide).
Your media is processed on your device and is not uploaded for background removal. First use needs an internet connection to load processing files. Whether processing can finish also depends on your footage and device.
### Which browser should I use? Start with a short clip in current desktop Chrome. Phone support has not been confirmed. If your browser reports that processing is unsupported, try Chrome on a computer. **What are the GIF and background image requirements?** - **Animated GIFs:** Up to 20 MiB, 10 seconds per loop, 2–200 frames and a total pixel count up to 1024 × 1024. Static GIFs are not supported. The output is up to 512 pixels on its longest side; edges may look less smooth than video. - **Background images:** PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 10 MiB and 16 million pixels. Images are cropped from the center to fill the video, so choose similar proportions for less cropping. ## Common questions **My file will not open or is unsupported. What can I do?** Check that the file plays on your device and meets the requirements above. Renaming a file extension does not convert it. Try exporting a short MP4 from your editor, then opening it in desktop Chrome. If it still fails, send us the error shown on the page. Multiple audio tracks or sound that your browser cannot read may also prevent processing. **Processing is slow, stuck or failing. What should I try?** First use needs to load processing files. Keep your connection and the page open. For portraits, start with Fast mode. If it still fails, shorten the clip or lower its resolution or frame rate, even if the file is within the size limit. A full progress bar is followed by a result check; wait for the download button. To stop, select Cancel, then recheck the file to try again. If loading fails, check your connection and whether a browser extension is blocking website resources. **The person is missing or the edges look rough.** Choose a closer, well-lit person with a clear outline. Compare Fast and Detailed edges on a short clip. Hair, fast movement and hidden parts of the subject may still have gaps or flicker. The portrait tool only identifies people. For products or pets against a distinct solid backdrop, try the [green screen remover](https://cutoutup.com/green-screen-remover). Automatic identification of products or pets against complex backgrounds is not supported. **Some background remains, or part of my subject disappears.** Select the actual background color again in the preview, then increase Tolerance a little at a time. Lower it if holes appear in the subject: matching colors in the subject will also be removed. Shadows, reflections and uneven backgrounds can prevent a clean result. **My download has a black background or will not open in my editor.** Some players and editors cannot display transparent WebM correctly. Compare with the website preview, then place the file over a colored background in your editor. A black player background alone does not mean removal failed. Follow the [export guide](https://cutoutup.com/transparent-webm-guide) for details. If you just need a finished video with a new background, combine it in [Change video background](https://cutoutup.com/change-video-background) before downloading. **Will the original sound be kept?** Supported original audio is retained. Silent sources stay silent. If sound cannot be preserved, the tool reports a failure instead of silently creating a muted video. Play the preview to check the sound before downloading. GIFs do not support sound. **Do failures count? What if I use my daily allowance?** Failed or cancelled tasks release their reserved allowance. Retries, switching between Fast and Detailed edges, background changes and repeat downloads within the same task do not count again. Guests can sign in for 6 tasks in total per day, or wait for the daily reset. Monthly purchasing is not open yet; see [pricing](https://cutoutup.com/pricing) for current plans. Remaining tasks from an earlier pack can still be used after the daily free allowance. ## Still need help? Email us with **the step that failed, the error message, and your browser and device**. A screenshot of the error helps; you do not need to send the full original video. For payment or access issues, include your order reference, not card details. [contact@cutoutup.com](mailto:contact@cutoutup.com) [Privacy Policy](https://cutoutup.com/privacy-policy) · [Terms of Service](https://cutoutup.com/terms-of-service) **Where do the examples come from?** Demonstration people and some product clips are AI-generated; GIF examples also include original animations. Results come from the actual tools without manual subject retouching. Try your own footage to judge the result. Each case card links its source; you can also view the [portrait sample source](https://cutoutup.com/examples/ai-person.manifest.json) and [tool sample sources](https://cutoutup.com/tools/samples.manifest.json). # Transparent WebM guide: alpha export and editor import Check transparent WebM alpha and retained audio in your editor, with an optional local ProRes 4444 conversion for the tested workflow. Source page: https://cutoutup.com/transparent-webm-guide Last updated: 2026-10-05 After using the [video background remover](https://cutoutup.com/#video-workbench), your transparent WebM is a person-only layer to place over another video or a colored background in a compatible editor. The [green screen remover](https://cutoutup.com/green-screen-remover) also exports transparent WebM using a color key, and can include objects filmed against a solid screen. If you only need a portrait already on a color or image, [change video background](https://cutoutup.com/change-video-background) exports an opaque MP4 when supported or WebM fallback with that background included. [GIF removal](https://cutoutup.com/remove-gif-background) is a separate animated GIF color-key workflow with hard transparency and its own limits. ## What you download The current preview exports a WebM container with VP9 video and an alpha channel. When supported source audio exists, the result also contains Opus audio. It does not export transparent MP4 or ProRes. The tool checks the export's alpha flag, alpha packets and decoded transparency range. It also checks dimensions, video duration, audio duration and the relative start of video and audio. The on-page canvas previews the actual downloaded content. ## A checkerboard preview and an editor import are different checks A browser or player can show an opaque or black background if it ignores WebM alpha. Native Safari playback is not a transparency promise. Our canvas preview explicitly decodes and combines the color and alpha data. Your editing application still needs to support this combination of container, codec and alpha. A successful tool export does not prove that every editor can import it correctly. ## Check an import over a colored layer 1. Download the WebM and import it into the exact editor and operating system you plan to use. 2. Create a bright colored layer or another video underneath it. 3. Place the exported clip above that layer. The removed background should reveal the layer below. 4. Play the timeline and seek through head movement, hands, hair and occlusion. 5. Listen to the audio and check synchronization, including any original delayed audio start. 6. Export a short composite from that editor and inspect the final playback. Record the editor version, operating system and import/export settings when a combination works. On the tested Mac, direct WebM import kept an opaque black rectangle in CapCut 9.5.0, and iMovie 10.4.5 did not allow the WebM to be selected for import. A separately converted ProRes 4444 MOV passed the sample workflow in both editors, as described below. ## An optional local MOV conversion If FFmpeg is installed on your computer, this command converts a downloaded WebM to ProRes 4444 MOV with an alpha channel and PCM audio. Replace the input filename with your download. Use a new output filename. ```bash ffmpeg -c:v libvpx-vp9 \ -i "input.webm" \ -c:v prores_ks -profile:v 4 \ -pix_fmt yuva444p10le \ -alpha_bits 16 \ -c:a pcm_s16le \ "output-prores4444.mov" ``` The explicit libvpx-vp9 decoder matters: a decoder that ignores WebM alpha can bake a black background into the conversion. All conversion stays on your computer. CutoutUp does not run this command or supply a MOV download. On October 2, 2026, this conversion preserved all 36 alpha frames and the audio of a 3-second Safari export. The MOV imported into CapCut 9.5.0 and iMovie 10.4.5 on the tested Mac. CapCut displayed it over a green canvas; iMovie used a green background with the MOV as a Cutaway at full opacity and no fade. Both editors exported a final composite with the green visible around the person and retained audio. Those final composites have a solid green background, not an alpha channel. MOV files can be much larger: this sample grew from about 185 KiB of WebM to 7.3 MiB of MOV. Keep the WebM and original source, inspect the imported edges, and export a short test from your own editor. One short portrait does not establish compatibility for every clip, editor version or operating system. ## When you see black, gray or missing regions If the page preview is transparent but the editor is opaque, check the editor's alpha support and import interpretation. If the same region is missing in the page preview, that is a segmentation limitation, not an import setting. The current output is a foreground layer. Changing or adding a background happens in your editor. A compatible conversion tool may be needed for a different format, but this website does not currently supply that conversion. ## Preserve your original Keep the source video as well as the downloaded output. Refreshing or closing the tool clears its in-memory result. Review [browser support](https://cutoutup.com/help#browser-support), [real examples](https://cutoutup.com/#video-example), or return to the [video background remover](https://cutoutup.com/#video-workbench). # Privacy Policy How browser-local tools handle media, account and allowance records, payment information and optional website analytics. Source page: https://cutoutup.com/privacy-policy Last updated: 2026-10-20 ## Browser-local Video Processing The portrait, green-screen and background-replacement tools process selected video and audio in your browser. The GIF tool processes selected animation frames locally too. A replacement background image also stays in this browser. These workflows do not upload media, send it to an inference provider, or store it in our database. Portrait workflows download the model and runtime files from this site; color-key tools do not need a portrait model. Model telemetry and external requests from the processing worker are blocked. The current task and output remain in page memory. Canceling stops processing; refreshing or closing the page clears the task and result. A downloaded file is saved on your device and is under your control. ## Website Requests and Preferences The hosting service receives ordinary website requests, including an IP address, browser request headers and requested URLs, to deliver the website, model and runtime files. These requests do not include selected video, audio, GIFs or replacement images. Hosting logs depend on the deployed hosting configuration. Language and theme preferences can be stored in cookies or local storage. You can clear these using your browser settings. The public tools do not enable advertising or chat widgets. Public purchasing is currently unavailable while merchant approval and payment verification are completed; the payment handling described below applies when checkout is available. ## Optional Google Sign-in You can use the tools without an account. If you choose Google sign-in, Google shares your account identifier, name, email address, email verification status and profile image with us. We store account and session records in our PostgreSQL database hosted in Singapore. Login records can include your IP address, browser information and language. Authentication cookies keep you signed in; signing out ends that session. OAuth tokens stored for authentication are encrypted. We request only basic identity permissions, not access to Gmail, Drive or your media. Signing in does not upload your selected files or save your editing media to your account; necessary task IDs and allowance records are linked to the account as described below. Account details shown on the site are masked from Clarity session recordings. We keep account records while your account exists and session records for authentication. To request account deletion, email [contact@cutoutup.com](mailto:contact@cutoutup.com). You can also revoke access in your Google account settings; this does not itself delete your CutoutUp account. ## Purchases and Payment Records When checkout is available and you choose to buy monthly browser access, Waffo provides the hosted checkout and payment service. To create and reconcile the purchase, we send Waffo your internal account identifier, order reference, product and quantity, price and currency, and the product binding needed to verify that purchase. We do not send your selected media, file names or media hashes to the payment provider. Information you enter on the hosted checkout, such as payment and billing details, is handled by Waffo and its payment processors. CutoutUp does not receive or store your full card number or card security code. Our server receives payment status through signed notifications and authenticated payment queries. We store order and payment references, the account entitled to the purchased access, amounts and currency, tax and fee information returned by the provider, payment and refund status, and the associated allowance adjustments. These records let us confirm payment, activate access once, recover a purchase after signing in again, and handle refunds, disputes and support. Necessary order, payment and entitlement histories are kept separately from optional behavior analytics. The 90-day behavior retention period does not delete those histories. They are retained as needed to provide purchased allowances, reconcile transactions, resolve refunds or disputes, and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations; this policy does not promise a fixed deletion period for financial records. For a privacy or account deletion request, contact [contact@cutoutup.com](mailto:contact@cutoutup.com). Declining optional analytics does not prevent a purchase or these necessary records. ## Website Analytics We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to measure website visits and tool usage only after explicit consent, regardless of location. Before consent, we do not load GA4 or send measurement requests, including cookieless requests. Microsoft Clarity also requires explicit consent. Scrolling, leaving the choice unanswered or choosing Not now does not grant permission. These services can receive sanitized public page URLs, browser and device information, approximate location and interaction data, and can use cookies or similar identifiers. All three advertising consent settings, Google signals and advertising personalization remain disabled. The regional policy check uses Cloudflare's server-provided country code. This check does not collect, save or forward your IP address or return your country to the browser, and its response does not replace your consent. Normal hosting and authorized third-party network requests still use ordinary network transport. You can independently change GA4, Clarity and optional attribution through **Analytics preference** in the footer. The floating notice offers accept, decline and Not now controls. After scrolling more than one screen it collapses to a small preferences button; collapsing does not save a consent choice. Withdrawal stops subsequent tracking and clears GA cookies this site controls for its measurement ID; already transmitted data follows provider retention/deletion procedures. Clarity also uses page layout and interactions such as clicks and scrolling to generate usage reports, heatmaps and session replays. Session replays reconstruct website interactions; they are not recordings of your selected video or audio. Every media workbench, including file names, media details, background settings and input/output previews, is marked for Clarity content masking. We do not send selected video, audio, GIFs, replacement images, decoded frames or exported files to either analytics service. The processing worker has a separate policy that permits only downloads of first-party assets. Website analytics do not change where your media is processed. Clarity may use first-party and third-party cookies and similar browser storage to associate visits and interactions, subject to browser settings and applicable consent requirements. You can block or clear cookies and site storage in your browser. Browser tracking protection and content blockers can also limit analytics collection. For provider details, see [Google's privacy policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy), [Microsoft's privacy statement](https://privacy.microsoft.com/en-us/privacystatement) and the [Clarity data collection documentation](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/clarity/clarity-data). ## Your Control You choose whether to select a file, start processing or download an output. You can stop processing at any time. Close or refresh the page to clear the local task. Downloaded files must be managed on your device; this site cannot delete them for you. ## Policy Changes We will update this page and its date when the preview's data handling changes. ## Contact For questions about this preview's data handling, email [contact@cutoutup.com](mailto:contact@cutoutup.com). ## Necessary allowance and business records A necessary signed random browser cookie identifies the allowance subject. Server records store task IDs, allowance usage, account ownership and purchase balances. These records are needed to run the service, prevent duplicate consumption and fulfill purchases. They do not depend on optional analytics permission. File reselection identifiers stay in device sessionStorage; accounts do not save your videos. Necessary records do not contain selected media, file names or media hashes. Task start and outcome records may be shown as aggregate business statistics. A browser-reported successful outcome is not independent verification of the exported media. Orders, verified payments, refunds and grants remain separate authoritative business records. Declining analytics, Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) does not disable necessary allowance, payment or entitlement records. ## First-party basic statistics Basic statistics measure public page visits, file selection, processing start, success, failure or explicit cancellation, and download clicks. They are separate from GA4, Clarity and optional visitor tracking, and require their own explicit basic-statistics permission on public pages. An unanswered or deferred choice does not enable collection. Basic collection can also be disabled entirely. You can decline or stop basic statistics independently of optional analytics. DNT and GPC suppress basic collection. Basic records use a random identifier held in the current document's memory to connect the steps of that visit. Document and task references are pseudonymous technical identifiers, not a claim that the records are entirely non-personal or impossible to associate with other records. Basic events do not store an account identifier or the necessary allowance cookie. Processing and download events reuse the existing random task ID, so authorized administrators can associate them with necessary task and account records when those records exist. Task IDs do not grant access to another user's task or media. Reloading, opening another page or another tab can create a new document session. Document sessions do not independently identify unique people or cross-device users. We accept only public page paths, restricted source and medium categories, operator-allowlisted campaign labels, reduced referral categories, coarse browser and device categories, tool and task references, duration and resolution buckets, and fixed error or stage codes. To diagnose failures, we may also record fixed categories for processing operations, exceptions, processing mode, engine, background type, output format and Detailed-mode retries; raw exception text and stack traces are not recorded. We do not send selected video, audio, GIFs, images, decoded frames, file names, raw user-agent strings or raw IP addresses as analytics fields. Ordinary transport requests still reach the hosting service. A short-lived, rotating keyed digest of the transport IP may be used solely for abuse rate limiting; it is not a visitor identifier and is removed with short-lived rate-limit records. Basic events are kept in memory for sending and retries. After explicit basic-statistics permission, a bounded pending-event queue may also use device sessionStorage for up to 24 hours to retry failed requests. This queue is not enabled solely by an exemption mode, and stopping basic statistics clears pending events. Pending records expire from use after 24 hours and are removed when the queue is next checked. The target retention period for basic event records is 30 rolling days. When the internal daily retention schedule is enabled, expired records are removed in bounded batches with retries and failure monitoring; collection cleanup and authenticated maintenance remain fallbacks. Records awaiting a retry or backlog cleanup can remain longer. Business histories are stored separately and are not deleted by this analytics retention period. Delivery is best effort and a failed statistic never blocks processing, downloading or purchasing. ## Optional analytics preferences GA4, Clarity, longer-lived first-party visitor identifiers and optional attribution require explicit permission. Existing explicit declines remain effective; you may later reauthorize each service. Basic-statistics permission never enables GA4 or Clarity. DNT and GPC suppress both third-party services. Each service's loading failures are independent and do not authorize additional first-party collection. Public pages require basic-statistics permission even if a legacy server configuration specifies an exemption mode. Optional first-party behavior records use restricted attribution, device/browser categories and error codes. Their target retention period is 90 rolling days; the enabled internal daily schedule or authenticated maintenance performs deletion, and records awaiting a retry or cleanup can remain longer. Optional browser identifiers can be stored on your device only when that preference allows them. Any account identifier sent to GA4 while signed in also requires optional attribution permission; GA4 permission alone does not enable it. You can change preferences using the controls on public pages and can clear browser storage in your browser settings. Previously collected third-party records are subject to the providers' retention and deletion processes. Necessary financial and entitlement histories are not erased by withdrawing analytics permission. # Terms of Service Read the terms for browser video and GIF processing, free allowances, monthly access, payments, refunds, acceptable use and your rights to source material. Source page: https://cutoutup.com/terms-of-service Last updated: 2026-10-17 ## Acceptance of Terms By accessing or using this service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. ## Description of Service The current preview removes backgrounds from short people videos in your browser and exports transparent WebM files. Inputs are limited to MP4 or WebM, 2 GB and 120 seconds. Export is limited to 720p and 30 fps. Supported audio is retained; a failed audio check prevents export. Separate tools offer solid-color video keying, portrait background replacement with a color or local image, and animated GIF solid-color removal. Replacement videos have opaque backgrounds and use MP4 when supported or WebM fallback. GIF input is limited to 20 MiB, 10 seconds per cycle and 2–200 frames, with output long edge up to 512 pixels. Tool-specific dimensions, image, memory and export limits are shown on each tool page. All selected media is processed locally. Segmentation can have imperfect hair, thin details, movement and occlusion. Check the result before using it. Browser, device and editor compatibility varies. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the preview. ## Accounts and Fees Guests receive 3 free tasks each day without signing up. Signed-in accounts receive 6 tasks in total each day, including linked same-day guest use. All local tools share this allowance, which resets at 00:00 UTC. No watermark is added. Local video processing has independent frame and pixel-work limits, a 512 MiB output-buffer budget, a 2-minute source inspection timeout and a 30-minute processing budget. A duration below 120 seconds alone does not guarantee successful processing on every browser or device. A budget or media validation failure prevents download. The [unlimited monthly pass](https://cutoutup.com/pricing) is sold at the price shown on the pricing page and confirmed at checkout, for one calendar month of unlimited browser processing on the account used at checkout. The month starts when access is activated; buying again while active extends the current expiry by one calendar month. Month-end dates are clamped to the final day of the next month. Renew manually: there is no automatic charge. Checkout availability is shown on the pricing page. Sandbox payments do not create live paid access. The daily free allowance remains available. No public processing API is offered. An active monthly pass has no task-count limit. Without an active pass, daily free tasks are used first, followed by any unused tasks from an earlier pack. Earlier packs retain their original non-expiring allowance. A completed task is counted once; retries, Fast/Detail switches, background changes and repeat downloads within that task do not use another task. Failed or cancelled tasks release their reservation. Free and paid access use the same models, quality, formats and processing limits; unlimited access does not add MOV/ProRes export or remove file limits. ## Refunds and Payment Support For a payment or allowance problem, contact [contact@cutoutup.com](mailto:contact@cutoutup.com) with your order reference. Do not send card details or your media. If a payment is confirmed but the access is missing, we will investigate and either restore the purchased access or arrange the appropriate refund. If purchased access has not been used, you may request a full refund. Requests after use require individual manual review; any approved refund and access adjustment will be confirmed before processing. Applicable statutory rights remain unaffected. An approved or pending refund request is not confirmation that funds have returned to your payment method. Related purchased access may be unavailable while a refund or payment dispute is reviewed. We cannot recall files already downloaded. ## Acceptable Use You agree not to: - Violate any applicable laws or regulations. - Infringe on the intellectual property or other rights of any party. - Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or data. - Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service. - Use the service to send spam, malware, or other harmful content. ## Intellectual Property Only select material you have the right to process. Using this tool does not grant rights in someone else's material. Third-party model and library licenses are described in the project's third-party notices. ## Termination We may suspend access to the service if you violate these terms. You can stop a local task by canceling it or closing the page. ## Limitation of Liability To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of or inability to use the service. ## Changes to These Terms We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, sending a notice through the service. ## Contact If you have questions about these Terms, email [contact@cutoutup.com](mailto:contact@cutoutup.com). # For Agents Use these published pages to understand the current browser tools and their limits. Read only the page relevant to your question. CutoutUp does not expose a public API or MCP for submitting media-processing jobs. Source page: https://cutoutup.com/agents ## Current service facts - Free video input is MP4 / WebM, up to 2 GB and 120 seconds, within a 3840 × 2160 input pixel count. - Video output is limited to a 720p bounding box and 30 fps; aspect ratio is preserved and output is not upscaled. - Guests get 3 free tasks daily; signed-in accounts get 6 total. All tools share the allowance, resetting at 00:00 UTC. Selected media stays in the browser. - Paid professional export is not open; MOV purchases are unavailable. There is no public execution API or MCP. - [Pricing](/pricing): one calendar month of unlimited tasks, manually renewed. See the pricing page for the current price and checkout availability. Existing video and GIF formats and processing limits still apply. - Local video also has 14400 input-frame and 3602 output-frame budgets, pixel-work bounds, a 512 MiB output buffer and a 30-minute task budget. This is not unlimited processing or a device performance guarantee. - Portrait video tools use portrait AI for people, not general product or pet segmentation. Color keying can process subjects filmed against a distinct solid-color backdrop. - GIF input is limited to 200 frames, a 10-second cycle and 20 MiB. ## Public page Markdown - [Home and portrait video tool](https://cutoutup.com/index.md) - [Green screen remover](https://cutoutup.com/green-screen-remover.md) - [Change video background](https://cutoutup.com/change-video-background.md) - [Remove GIF background](https://cutoutup.com/remove-gif-background.md) - [Help and troubleshooting](https://cutoutup.com/help.md) - [Transparent WebM guide](https://cutoutup.com/transparent-webm-guide.md) - [Privacy policy](https://cutoutup.com/privacy-policy.md) - [Terms of service](https://cutoutup.com/terms-of-service.md) - [This agent guide](https://cutoutup.com/agents.md) ## Site indexes - [llms.txt](https://cutoutup.com/llms.txt) - [llms-full.txt](https://cutoutup.com/llms-full.txt)
